Frequently asked questions

A pool bean bag that genuinely stays afloat

The Jumbo Swimming is built to stay on the surface, whatever happens. Its honeycomb polyester cover lets water through instead of holding it in: the bean bag does not soak up water and does not sink. Inside, a filling of 100 % virgin memory-shape polystyrene beads provides both buoyancy and support. Sit down, lie back, drift — the seat follows you without ever bottoming out.

At 130 × 170 cm for 380 litres, it is a genuine two-seater, by the water as well as in it. On the terrace it is a giant outdoor bean bag; in the pool, a relaxation raft. The cover is fully removable and easy to wash; a simple rinse with clean water after swimming is enough to maintain it.

Please note: a floating bean bag is a leisure accessory, not a safety device. It is not a substitute for a buoy, nor for supervising a child in the water.

Frequently asked questions about floating bean bags

Is a floating pool bean bag really unsinkable?

Yes, provided its cover lets water through instead of holding it in. The Jumbo Swimming combines a honeycomb polyester cover, which filters water, with a filling of 100 % virgin polystyrene beads: the bean bag stays on the surface and does not soak up water. Pool bean bags with a solid cover eventually fill up and sink.

How many people can a floating bean bag hold?

On the Jumbo Swimming the limit is space, not buoyancy: at 130 × 170 cm it comfortably seats two adults. Flotation comes from the polystyrene bead filling rather than an air chamber, so there is nothing to deflate and no loss of buoyancy over time. A reminder: it is a leisure accessory, not a safety device.

Does a floating bean bag withstand chlorine and salt?

Yes. Jumbo Bag fabrics are tested to withstand chlorine and salt, so the bean bag can be used in a treated pool as well as in sea water. After swimming, rinsing with clean water is still recommended, to remove the residues that dull fabrics over time.

How long does a floating bean bag take to dry?

It depends on the fabric. Solution-dyed canvas models, such as the Jumbo UV Swimming, dry very quickly in the sun and can be used on the ground shortly after swimming. The Jumbo Swimming, like every mesh-cover model, holds more water: the fabric is sponge-like and the beads have to dry too, which can take from one to several days depending on heat and wind. To speed things up, remove the cover and turn the inner cover over regularly.

Does the fabric of a pool bean bag fade in the sun?

Prolonged exposure will eventually fade a polyester cover, and some colours faster than others. Fading affects neither buoyancy nor comfort. Two options: bring the bean bag in when it is not in use, or replace the cover alone with a solution-dyed canvas one. The Jumbo UV Swimming Cover matches the exact format of the Jumbo Swimming, 130 × 170 cm for 380 litres, in Sunbrella fabric guaranteed 5 years against fading.

Does the filling of a floating bean bag go flat over time?

It all comes down to bead quality. The filling is made of virgin polystyrene beads expanded in two stages: they do not crush and spring back to their round shape, which keeps the comfort over time. That is what sets them apart from the recycled or ground beads used in entry-level products, which have no resilience. If needed, the filling can be topped up: a 380-litre bead refill is sold separately.

Can the cover of a pool bean bag be washed?

Yes, the cover of the Jumbo Swimming is fully removable: it comes off the filling to be machine washed at 30 °C, then goes back on. The outer cover is honeycomb polyester, the inner cover is microfibre polyester. After swimming, a rinse with clean water is enough to remove chlorine or salt.

How should a pool bean bag be stored over winter?

Store it dry and under cover. Before storing, make sure it is completely dry, filling included: take the cover off and turn the inner cover over from time to time to finish drying. A bean bag stored while still damp is exposed to odours and marks.

What is the difference between a pool bean bag and a standard outdoor bean bag?

A standard outdoor bean bag is water-repellent: it withstands rain but is not designed to be submerged. A pool bean bag is designed to float over time: its cover is permeable so water drains away, and its filling is chosen for buoyancy. Using a standard outdoor bean bag in a pool soaks it and distorts its shape.

What are the dimensions of a Jumbo Bag floating bean bag?

The Jumbo Swimming measures 130 × 170 cm with a filling volume of 380 litres. This two-seater format lets you stretch out on the water, and the bean bag remains usable out of the water, on the poolside or the terrace. It comes in several colours.

How much does a floating pool bean bag cost?

The floating pool bean bag market ranges from around thirty euros for inflatable models to over 300 € for high-end branded bean bags. The price of this model, its available colours and customer reviews are shown at the top of this product page.
