Frequently asked questions

A floating bean bag sized for younger swimmers

The Junior UV Swimming uses the same flotation principle as the rest of the range — a permeable cover backed with a PVC grid, filled with 100 % virgin polystyrene beads — in a smaller 150 × 115 cm, 250 litre format, suited to children and easier to handle in the water.

Its cover is made of Agora® 100 % solution-dyed acrylic canvas: the pigment is built into the fibre as it is made, which gives it good colour retention in the sun and quick drying. It is guaranteed 5 years against fading.

Important: a floating bean bag is a leisure accessory, not a safety device and not a flotation aid. It is not a substitute for armbands, a life jacket, or active adult supervision. Never leave a child alone on or near a bean bag in the water.

Frequently asked questions about floating bean bags

Is the Junior UV Swimming suitable for children?

Its 150 × 115 cm format is designed for them: smaller and easier to move around in the water than a two-seater model. But it should be clear what it is. A floating bean bag is a leisure accessory, not safety equipment and not a flotation aid: it is no substitute for armbands, a life jacket, or active adult supervision. A child should never be left alone on or near a bean bag in the water.

What is the difference between the Junior UV Swimming and the Jumbo UV Swimming?

The format. The Junior measures 150 × 115 cm for 250 litres, the Jumbo UV Swimming 130 × 170 cm for 380 litres, which makes it a two-seater. Both share the same principle: solution-dyed acrylic canvas, backed with a PVC grid that drains water away, over a filling of virgin polystyrene beads — and the same 5-year guarantee against fading.

What are the dimensions of the Junior UV Swimming?

The Junior UV Swimming measures 150 × 115 cm with a filling volume of 250 litres. It is the mid-size model of the floating range: larger than a one-seater, easier to handle in the water than a two-seater. It comes in several colours.

Is a floating pool bean bag really unsinkable?

Yes, provided its cover lets water through instead of holding it in. The Junior UV Swimming combines a canvas backed with a PVC grid, which drains water away, with a filling of 100 % virgin polystyrene beads: the bean bag stays on the surface and does not soak up water. Pool bean bags with a solid cover eventually fill up and sink.

Does Agora canvas fade in the sun?

It is designed to resist it, and that is guaranteed for 5 years. Agora canvas is solution-dyed: the pigment is built into the acrylic fibre as it is made, instead of being applied to the surface. The colour therefore does not wash out or wear off under exposure, unlike a surface-dyed polyester cover.

How long does it take to dry?

Quickly. Acrylic canvas does not soak up water the way a sponge-like mesh fabric does: after swimming, the bean bag can be used on the ground shortly afterwards, without waiting for the filling to dry.

Does a floating bean bag withstand chlorine and salt?

Yes. Jumbo Bag fabrics are tested to withstand chlorine and salt, so the bean bag can be used in a treated pool as well as in sea water. After swimming, rinsing with clean water is still recommended, to remove the residues that dull fabrics over time.

Can the cover of a pool bean bag be washed?

Yes, the cover of the Junior UV Swimming is fully removable: it comes off the filling to be machine washed at 30 °C, then goes back on. The inner cover is microfibre polyester. The fabric is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, meaning tested against harmful substances — a useful criterion for a product in prolonged contact with children's skin.

Can the cover be replaced on its own?

Yes. The Junior UV Swimming Cover is sold separately and fits back onto the existing filling: a fresh cover without buying a whole new bean bag.

Does the filling of a floating bean bag go flat over time?

It all comes down to bead quality. The filling is made of virgin polystyrene beads expanded in two stages: they do not crush and spring back to their round shape, which keeps the comfort over time. That is what sets them apart from the recycled or ground beads used in entry-level products, which have no resilience.

How should a pool bean bag be stored over winter?

Store it dry and under cover. Before storing, make sure it is completely dry, filling included: take the cover off and turn the inner cover over from time to time to finish drying. A bean bag stored while still damp is exposed to odours and marks.

What is the difference between a pool bean bag and a standard outdoor bean bag?

A standard outdoor bean bag is water-repellent: it withstands rain but is not designed to be submerged. A pool bean bag is designed to float over time: its cover is permeable so water drains away, and its filling is chosen for buoyancy. Using a standard outdoor bean bag in a pool soaks it and distorts its shape.

How much does a floating pool bean bag cost?

The floating pool bean bag market ranges from around thirty euros for inflatable models to over 300 € for high-end branded bean bags. The price of this model, its available colours and customer reviews are shown at the top of this product page.
